AgentAwake
Close the lid. Your agents keep working.
AgentAwake keeps your MacBook running with the lid closed, on battery or power, while Claude Code, Codex or another AI agent is working. When the work stops, it waits a short grace period and lets the Mac sleep.
macOS 14 or later. Free for 14 days, then $9.99 a year.
01How it works
Awake while agents work, asleep when they stop
macOS puts a MacBook to sleep the moment the lid closes, and a long agent task stops halfway. AgentAwake keeps the Mac awake only while an agent is working, then lets it sleep after a short grace period.
macOS on its own
With AgentAwake
An agent counts as working while any of these is true:
hookCodex or opencode, once connected, report when they start and stop.
caffeinateClaude Code runs one while it replies; so does any job started as caffeinate -i <command>.
activityAny other agent counts while its own process is using the processor.
02Safety
Lid closed, still looked after
AgentAwake reads the real state from the system every time instead of assuming it.
- Battery floor
- On battery, the Mac sleeps at the floor you set, 10 to 25%.
- Heat limit
- It pauses whenever macOS reports serious heat.
- Fans
- With the lid closed the fans hold at least 40%, and reach full speed at 90 °C on the default profile.
- Read back
- “Lid sleep blocked ✓” shows only after the system confirms it.
- Watchdog
- If the app stops, lid sleep is back on within 60 seconds.
- Narrow permission
- The sudo rule it adds covers three pmset commands and nothing else.
