Short answer
Most small Thai businesses can start with a Thai cloud program such as FlowAccount (1,990 to 5,490 baht a year) or PEAK (2,500 to 35,000 baht a year before VAT), which handle tax invoices, withholding tax certificates and VAT reports. A perpetual licence such as Express suits businesses whose accountant already uses it, but is not automatically cheaper: over five years it came to about 46,000 baht with maintenance, against about 15,000 for FlowAccount Pro. Prices as published on 23 September 2026.
Which accounting software fits which business? The short answer
Most small Thai businesses can start with a Thai cloud program such as FlowAccount or PEAK. Plans start at a few thousand baht a year, they issue tax invoices, withholding tax certificates and VAT reports, and the vendor updates them when the Revenue Department changes a form.
A perpetual licence (ซื้อขาด) such as Express suits a business whose accounting firm already works in it, or that wants to pay once and run the program on an office PC. Budget for the yearly maintenance fee as well. International cloud products such as Xero are built for other countries' tax systems and priced in US dollars, so they mainly fit foreign-owned companies whose group already uses them.
If the real problem is stock across several warehouses, branches, or departments re-keying each other's figures, you are looking for an ERP, not a different accounting program.
SyncEdge does not sell accounting software and has no partnership with any vendor in this guide. Every price here comes from the vendor's own website as read on 23 September 2026. Prices change, so check again before you buy.
What must accounting software handle for Thai tax?
Whatever you buy has to produce documents and reports the Revenue Department accepts. Check each item against the vendor's published feature list rather than a sales call:
- Full tax invoices carrying the items section 86/4 of the Revenue Code requires, plus the buyer's tax ID and the words “Head office” or “Branch no.”, which VAT notice No. 196 added from 2014
- Purchase and sales tax reports for the monthly VAT return, ภ.พ.30, due by the 15th of the following month on paper, or 8 days later when filed online
- Withholding tax certificates (50 ทวิ) for the people you pay, and the ภ.ง.ด.3 and ภ.ง.ด.53 returns, due by the 7th on paper or the 15th online
- e-Tax Invoice & e-Receipt, either by Time Stamp, sent by email and time-stamped by the certification system, or the full version signed with your own digital certificate
- e-Withholding Tax, where your bank deducts and remits the tax as it makes the payment. The cabinet approved keeping the reduced 1% rate for payments such as contract work, advertising, transport and rent through 31 December 2027. It runs through the bank, so ask how the program records those payments
- A chart of accounts your accountant can adapt, and bank reconciliation against your statement
- Stock with cost of goods sold, if you hold inventory
- Payroll with social security and ภ.ง.ด.1, if you would rather not run a separate payroll program
What accounting software is there? FlowAccount, PEAK, Express, Formula, Business Plus and two more compared
These seven cover most of what Thai businesses search for. The table sticks to what each vendor documents on its own website; where a feature is not listed, it says so rather than guessing.
Read the prices carefully, because vendors present them differently. PEAK states its prices exclude VAT. FlowAccount and SMEMOVE do not say either way. Express shows prices before and after VAT, Formula and Business Plus are sold by quotation, and Xero charges in US dollars.

Cloud subscription or perpetual licence: what is the difference?
The difference is when you pay and who keeps the program current. A subscription is a yearly or monthly fee that already includes updates, hosting and backups. A perpetual licence is one larger payment and the program is yours to keep, but updates, support beyond the basics and backups become your job, or an extra fee. Here is how that plays out:
- Up front: a cloud plan starts at nothing to a few thousand baht; Express starts at 20,330 baht including VAT for one PC
- Every year after: cloud is the full subscription again; a perpetual licence is optional maintenance, 6,420 baht a year including VAT for Express
- When tax rules change: cloud vendors update everyone at once. Express publishes updates to download and install yourself; for the 2014 tax-invoice changes it charged 5,000 baht to update at its office and 2,000 baht per form changed, before VAT
- Backups: FlowAccount says it runs on Amazon Web Services with regular backups, and PEAK on Microsoft Azure with automatic backups. On a desktop licence, Express tells customers to back up every day themselves
- Working away from the office: cloud runs in a browser or app. Express Single and LAN licences run only on office Windows PCs; remote use means renting Express on Cloud as well
- Adding users: cloud plans raise the user cap by tier; Express moves from Single to LAN for 16,000 baht before VAT
- Leaving: with a subscription, ask what access to past records remains once you stop paying; a perpetual licence keeps running for as long as you have a Windows PC
Is buying outright cheaper? Five years of cost, worked through
Not automatically. The chart adds up published prices, including VAT, for one small business over five years. FlowAccount Pro at 2,990 baht a year, taken as published because the page does not say whether VAT is included. PEAK Pro at 9,000 baht a year plus VAT, which is 9,630 baht. Express Single for one PC at 20,330 baht including VAT, plus maintenance at 6,420 baht a year from year two, assuming the free phone support that comes with the licence is enough in year one. No price rises, no add-ons and no payroll.
After five years, Express with maintenance comes to about 46,000 baht, PEAK Pro about 48,000 and FlowAccount Pro about 15,000. PEAK Pro's running total only passes Express in year five, and Express never gets below FlowAccount. Skip maintenance and Express stays at 20,330 baht, but you then install tax updates yourself and pay per fix. The three plans are not equivalent either: Express Single runs on one PC, PEAK Pro allows 10 users and FlowAccount Pro unlimited users, so price the plan you would actually need.
- FlowAccount Pro
- PEAK Pro
- Express Single with maintenance
| FlowAccount Pro | PEAK Pro | Express Single + MA | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Year 1 | 2,990 baht | 9,630 baht | 20,330 baht |
| Each later year | 2,990 baht | 9,630 baht | 6,420 baht |
| Five-year total | 14,950 baht | 48,150 baht | 46,010 baht |
| Users | Unlimited | Up to 10 | One PC |
Is there free accounting software, and what is the catch?
Yes. FlowAccount, PEAK and SMEMOVE each have a free plan, Crystal Software Group gives SmartBiz away, and several vendors offer 30-day trials of their paid plans. The free plans work, but they leave out things that matter once you are VAT-registered or have staff.
Free Excel templates are fine for a freelancer who is not VAT-registered. They stop coping once you issue numbered tax invoices and withholding certificates and file every month, because each figure is typed twice and nothing checks the totals. The real cost of free usually arrives later: if a plan cannot export your full history, moving to another program means re-keying it or paying someone to. Before you put a year of records into any free plan, check that you can get them out.
The limits of each free plan, as the vendors list them:
- FlowAccount Free: one user and standard documents; withholding tax, e-Tax Invoice and bank reconciliation start on Standard
- PEAK Free: one user, up to 20 contacts and 5 products, entries back-dated at most two months, and no report export
- SMEMOVE Free: one user and up to 500 purchase and sale transactions a month
- SmartBiz 366 on cloud: free to use, with 5 baht charged for each report; the installed SmartBiz is free for up to 3 users on a LAN
Which fits a business like yours? Four example scenarios
These four businesses are composites built from situations common in Thai small businesses, not our clients. Find the one closest to yours and use it as a starting point before you compare plans.
| Situation | What usually fits | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Freelancer or one-person company | Issues quotations and invoices, receives 50 ทวิ from clients who withhold tax, not VAT-registered, an accounting firm closes the year | A free or entry-level cloud plan | The job is tidy documents and a record of the tax clients withheld. Move up a plan once you register for VAT and must issue tax invoices and file ภ.พ.30 |
| Online shop, 5 people | Sells on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop, also takes orders in LINE chats, and customers have started asking for tax invoices | A cloud plan that brings in marketplace sales, such as FlowAccount Pro Business or PEAK Pro Plus | Marketplace sales can arrive by connector or file. LINE chat orders have no ready-made connector, so someone re-keys them unless LINE is connected through an API |
| Trading company, 15 people | Holds stock, sells on credit to shops, three or four staff use the program at once, and the accounting firm knows Express | Express LAN, or a cloud plan with stock, credit limits and enough users, such as PEAK Pro Plus | Stock costing, receivables ageing and credit limits matter more than the price. If sales, warehouse and accounts keep re-keying each other's figures, read our ERP vs accounting software guide first |
| Service company paying many contractors | Pays freelancers, contractors and agencies every month, issues dozens of 50 ทวิ, files ภ.ง.ด.3 and ภ.ง.ด.53 | Any program that issues 50 ทวิ and produces the ภ.ง.ด.3/53 file, such as FlowAccount Standard and up, PEAK or Express | The monthly workload is withholding tax, not stock. Try issuing a month's certificates during the trial, and consider paying through your bank's e-Withholding Tax service, where many payment types are withheld at 1% |
Is accounting software enough, or should you connect your systems with SyncEdge?
For most small businesses, accounting software on its own is enough. If sales come in through one channel, or there are few enough to key in by hand without mistakes, you do not need us.
Connecting systems pays off when the same sale is typed twice: once in the POS, online store or LINE OA, and again in the accounting program. If your program has an API, we connect them so each sale arrives once with its tax details. When the business outgrows accounting software altogether, the next step is ERP advice, not one more connection.
| Accounting software on its own | Connected with SyncEdge | |
|---|---|---|
| Who it suits | One sales channel, or few enough sales to key in by hand | Several sales channels feeding one set of books |
| How sales reach the books | Keyed in, or imported from files, by your staff | Sent from the POS, online store or LINE OA through the program's API |
| Tax details on each sale | Only as accurate as the person keying them | Carried across with each sale, so VAT and tax invoice details match |
| What you need first | Just the program | A program whose vendor offers an API; if yours has none, we tell you before any work starts |
| Who you deal with | The software vendor | The vendor for the program, and SyncEdge for the connections we build |
| When the business outgrows it | Move up a plan, or start looking at an ERP | Independent ERP advice, and Odoo implemented by our own team when it fits |
| Cost pattern | The published subscription or licence price | The same software price, plus our integration work, scoped and quoted first |
What should you ask a vendor before you sign?
These questions show the real cost and the way out. Ask them in writing and keep the answers.
- Is the price before or after VAT, and what will renewal cost next year?
- Which plan covers all the tax work I need: tax invoices, 50 ทวิ, ภ.ง.ด.3/53 files, the ภ.พ.30 report and e-Tax Invoice?
- How many users does the plan allow, and does my accountant's login cost extra?
- Can I export all my data, including past years, to Excel or CSV?
- How quickly do you update when the Revenue Department changes a form?
- Is there an API, which plan is it on, and are there usage limits or extra fees?
- Where is my data stored, how often is it backed up, and can I get a copy?
- What happens to my data if I stop paying?
How do you switch from Excel or an old program?
Pick a clean start date: the first day of your accounting year if you can, otherwise the first day of a month, once the previous month's ภ.พ.30 is filed. Bring across the chart of accounts, opening balances, customers and suppliers with their tax IDs and branch numbers, products with quantities and cost on hand, and any unpaid invoices and bills.
Ask the vendor for its import templates during the trial, then run one real month in parallel with the old system and switch only when the totals agree. Keep the old files and program readable afterwards, because the Accounting Act requires accounting documents to be kept for at least five years. The detailed steps for charts of accounts and opening balances are in our ERP vs accounting software guide, and they apply to moving between accounting programs too.
When is it time for an ERP instead?
When the problem sits outside accounting. If you run several warehouses or branches, manufacture to a bill of materials, or have sales, warehouse and accounts re-keying the same figures, a more expensive plan of an accounting program will not fix it. That is the ERP question, and our ERP vs accounting software guide covers the warning signs, the systems sold in Thailand, and what switching involves.
Where does SyncEdge fit in?
SyncEdge does not sell accounting software and has no partnership with any vendor in this guide, so choose whichever fits your business. Where we help is around it.
If sales from your POS, online store or LINE OA are still re-keyed into the accounting program, and that program has an API, we connect them so each sale arrives once with the right tax details. If the business has outgrown accounting software, we give independent ERP advice, and when Odoo fits, our own team implements it.
Before you choose accounting software
- Are you VAT-registered, or will you register within the year?
- Which tax documents do you issue each month: tax invoices, 50 ทวิ, e-Tax Invoice?
- Does your accounting firm already work in a particular program?
- How many people need a login, now and in two years?
- Do you hold stock, and in how many locations?
- Which sales channels need to feed the books: POS, marketplaces, LINE?
- Have you priced five years, including VAT, maintenance and add-ons?
- Can you export all your data if you leave?
Frequently asked questions
Which accounting software is best in Thailand?
No single program is best for every business; it depends on your size, your tax work and your accountant. Most small businesses can start with a Thai cloud program such as FlowAccount or PEAK, because they handle Thai tax documents and update themselves when rules change. Express suits you if your accounting firm already uses it and you want to pay once. If your problem is stock, branches or re-keying between departments, look at an ERP instead.
How much does accounting software cost in Thailand?
As published on 23 September 2026: FlowAccount 1,990 to 5,490 baht a year, PEAK 2,500 to 35,000 baht a year before VAT, SMEMOVE 1,990 to 6,990 baht a year, and Express 19,000 baht before VAT for one PC plus an optional 6,000 baht a year for maintenance. Formula is sold by quotation. FlowAccount, PEAK and SMEMOVE also have free plans with tight limits.
Is a perpetual licence (ซื้อขาด) worth it?
For some businesses. It costs more up front and less each year, and suits a business that keeps its books on an office PC with an accountant who knows the program. Over five years it is not automatically cheaper: in our example, Express with maintenance came to about 46,000 baht against about 15,000 for FlowAccount Pro. You also take on backups and tax updates yourself.
How do FlowAccount and PEAK differ?
Both are Thai cloud programs that issue tax invoices, withholding tax certificates and e-Tax Invoice. FlowAccount costs less per year and its Pro plans allow unlimited users, and it lists e-Tax Invoice by Time Stamp. PEAK sets plans by user caps from 3 to 20 and puts controls such as credit limits, purchase requests and full e-Tax Invoice & e-Receipt in its higher plans. Try both on their 30-day trials with your own documents.
Is there free accounting software?
Yes, with limits. FlowAccount, PEAK and SMEMOVE have free plans for one user, and Crystal Software Group gives SmartBiz away. The free plans leave out things most VAT-registered businesses need: FlowAccount Free has no withholding tax or bank reconciliation, and PEAK Free cannot export reports. Check that you can export your data before you rely on one.
Is online accounting software safe?
Generally as safe as a PC in your office, often safer, provided you manage logins well. FlowAccount says it runs on Amazon Web Services with regular backups, and PEAK says it runs on Microsoft Azure with two-factor login and automatic backups. The risks left are on your side: shared passwords, former staff who can still log in, and no copy of your own. Turn on two-factor login where offered and remove leavers the day they go.
